PUBLIC MEETING !

After a few days working in Fumbally Exchange Studios we had a public meeting there that happened the 9th of December.
Here are some pictures of the meeting and the exhibition.

The exhibition was divided into two parts:
- a photographic survey of wastelands,
- proposals (architecture, ubanism, farming...).

The photos will be exhibited at the Architectural Archive at the beginning of 2011 !

Shadowlands : a matter of duration

"What is the difference between a building site stalled for the weekend and a building site that stopped two years ago?

Nothing can separate them if you consider our photographic point of view. By themselves, the displayed photographs are only showing common building sites and abandoned wastelands : typical instances necessary to each city transformation.

As nowhere else in Europe, Dublin has experienced a fantastic metamorphosis over these last ten years : during this era cranes and infrastructural projects have multiplied in the landscape, anticipating more and more developments that would finally not happen.

With the financial crash, most of the building sites have now been stalled for an endless weekend, wastelands are still waiting for developers, the new roads aren’t going anywhere and transitory is remaining as a disturbing chaos.

While these photographs mainly reflect the triviality of transitional setups, the related texts remind us of the time scale which has led to this permanent situation.

This report captures characteristic instances encountered in Dublin and the whole of Ireland from the 20th of July to the 2nd of August 2010 and from the 4th to the 10th of October 2010."
